Title: New setup to start off the season!
Post by: Bigstruttin on March 25, 2013, 11:51:20 PM
Hey everyone I'm new to the forum and have learned quite a bit from here so far. I recently picked up a legacy escort magnum 12ga with 24" barrel and picked up a .655 primos tight wad choke and some hevi shot magnum blend 3" 2oz. I shot about 4 times with this load from 30 and 40 and every time it was to the left. What do you think about this pattern? I've been deer hunting for close to 15 years but just recently got into turkey hunting. All advise is appreciated. Thanks guys and gals!!

Looks great but we would like to see a 40 yard shot as well. Do you have optics or adjustable sights on the gun?

This was actually about 43 yards

As you can tell most of the shot is about 5" to the left. No adjustable sights as
of now just a bead.

Hold about 5" to the right and burn him up or throw some Truglo Pro Series fiber optics on the rib and get it sighted in.

No doubt, throw some adjustable fiber optic sights on there and you will be good to go.

Thanks guys! I see a lot of people using the hevi 13 but not too many using magnum blend. Have any of you used this load with good results? thanks for all your help

There a great load, and they will flat out drop a bird at 40yds. Another option is a red dot or scope, I have a couple turkey gun's with red dot's and I really like them.

Well y'all were right, held about 5" to the right and dropped my first bird ever like a rock. I think I found a favorite over deer hunting lol
