Title: Eastern or Osceola?
Post by: DuvalGator on March 25, 2013, 09:48:41 PM
First bird and not sure if it is Eastern or Osceola. I harvested him near Jacksonville, FL and thats right on the border of the ranges between the two. Would appreciate any help.

Most likely a hybrid but does look like mostly Osceola to me. Long legs, dark wings.

Eastern hybrid, spurs aren't nearly long enough for an Osceola.

not all osceolas are long spurred. Just like Midwestern deer vs eastern deer, while there are more big deer out there they aren't all booners.

IMO, i would say hybrid at best. You are flirting with the line being that far north. A fine bird nontheless
