I don't own one of his yet, but I understand that "crawdad" makes a real fine trumpet and is easy to use.  I believe they sell for around $70 which is very affordable for custom trumpet.

You may want to shoot him a PM.

I have three Crawdad's. They run easy, sound like a turkey and are easier to produce soft stuff than most. As a beginner that is one of the toughest tasks with any call. His tone down very nicely.

Mouthpiece material would only make a difference if you had one made from wood. When you use materials like ivory, horn, delrin or even acrylics, if they most all have the same density you won't notice much difference in ease of use or sound if they are all drilled out the same. 3/32" is the normal hole size for a mouth piece, what will make a difference is the length of the mouth piece the longer the more draw. That is my take on the matter, my mouthpieces ranger from 2- 1/2" to 3" in length and all are drilled out 3/32" unless requested different from the buyer.

The WildTalker Alpha was made specifically to be easy to use or to learn on. It's a hybrid between a WingBone and Trumpet. The mouthpiece is Flat and the shape of a WingBone. Here is my Grandson Jack after just 5 min of playing it. ( Adjusting the Lip Stop took the most time )

The Black Hunter is 85.00.

A mouthpiece that is beveled or slants down at an angle on one side can be an issue. Some play "bevel up" on the top lip..... or "bevel down" on the bottom lip. What works for you is the "right" way to insert the tip between your lips. The Alpha has an equal bevel on both side so there is no up or down.
