Title: lohman thunder dome
Post by: eddie234 on March 23, 2013, 12:35:49 PM
I have a question. When I first thought about turkey hunting i bought a few calls at the local dept. store, one of which was a lohman thunder dome slate call. Its been sitting around in my ammo dry box, I've seen on ebay these things go for a pretty penny. Ive searched and seen where some of you guys swear by it. Should I pull this thing out of storage and try using it?

Only if you want to call turkeys. They can be very loud as locator calls or very seductive.
The bottom of mine looks like a crumpled beer can but tone is still there. I say it's a field quality call and not a mantle piece or storage item.

I would say pull it out in put it in your vest. I talked to Ricky Jo Bishop co-inventor of the Dome last week, he told me that the call was phenomenal in sound quality even if the bottom of the dome looked like " a crumpled beer can". I would definitely use it.
