I have read that the federal with the flight control wad does not shoot well through the ported chokes. I am shooting a jelly head choke and was gonna try some some the federals. Does anyone else shoot this combo and does it pattern good?
I tried that combo yrs ago with my Kicks gobbling thunder choke its ported and I wasn't impressed with the results.
Those shells are garbage. Now their heavyweights are another story. Give their new turkey thugs a shot, they dont have the fcw but they sure thump ya.
Im sorry the ones I was talking about are the heavy weight it says the have the flight control wad also will this make a difference
I would strongly suggest you use a different choke with them.
Thats all i have been shooting for the longest time love them .I run a carlsons non ported super full 3/4 extended and the ex full carlsons non ported 3/4 extended great choke .heck the wad goes 55 yards .
now there are 2 different federals ones lead and ones mag-shok copper plated with a muz vel of 1300 fpm i do the copper plated ones never let me down yet .

My Rem 870 with a ported Hastings Compensator Choke shoots the FED FCW 3" 2oz 6s better than anything else I can feed it....including Hevi loads.
A 40 yards the wad hits the target so obviously it is staying with the shot as it was intended to do, even with a ported choke.
