Title: Mean Rude Ranchers
Post by: socalturkeyman on March 06, 2011, 05:18:50 PM
:TrainWreck1: So when I was driving around scouting for birds I decided to be brave and ask a few ranchers for land rights. Not one gave me permission and the all told me " There is NO @#$#*&^ Hunting On My land" and Than " IF I !@#$%^& Catch you tresspassing I'll shoot you  on the spot". lol I think I wont be going near there land hahaha. But the good thing is that I found a lil honey hole. So all in all its been good scouting for me.
I'll be checking a few other spots next weekend that can produce birds. Im gonna have to work tho,but thats what I like.I also have to ask few more ranchers in an area that I know theyre a bit more friendly.

Sounds like those guys have had issues with some hunters. Remember to get in the parting Thank you for your time. In their case, I would have said I don't trespess, that's why I'm here asking for permission to Turkey hunt.

Jay is right.

Even though I see a no tresspass sign I do go ask. I send letters of whom I am, and I share these letters with the Hunter Education Class I teach. Yes you do get negative comments. But being nice even in the eye of diversity just sets them back.

Even with the cuss words they would have gotten from me.

"Hey thanks for your time ~ sorry I bothered you." And I would walk away.

Ya thats pretty much what I did and Assured them that I would never tresspass. I also told them that they had a goregouse piece of land. I also offered to watch their land and to let them know if I saw anything fishy around them. Since I hunt public land around them. But the other area is about 5 miles away and has more birds. Plus in the past have had better relations with the farmers. They never gave me permission but they sure do love to chat about life. lol

That sucks, keep trying and eventually you'll hit pay dirt. Don't let a few jackasses deter you from asking again and again. :anim_25:

No matter what happens it is always good to treat everyone with respect, you never know what might be said down the street or in the local cafe.
