Title: Whats the best way to attack
Post by: sworntofun on March 15, 2013, 04:57:57 PM
Going turkey hunting for the first time in the morning and I'm pumped, My question is i have a 120 acre spot picked out in the club i hunt its plantation pines with a deep hardwood hollow with a road on the ridge of it that goes to a greenfield and i have heard hens down in the hardwoods . should i try and sneak down in the hollow or should i sit up in the pines and try to call him up to the greenfield and pines ?

I would start out sitting on the edge of the greenfield. They most times will fly down to a field if it is close by. Wait till they fly down then give some nice soft calling then sit back and see what happens. You can always move to them but its almost a sure bet they will hit that field at some point in the morning.

I agree, and they will probably end up using the road to either enter or exit the field at some point.

Good luck in the morning!
