Title: Fastfire Speedbead Install?
Post by: hermiehunter on March 06, 2013, 07:42:27 PM
I know I'm making it more complicated than it should be, but I don't know in what order the different pieces go on to my 870 Speedbead!

I've got the actual mount installed and will be using a supplied riser.  Now I have the actual sight with battery installed.  Then I have a really soft flexible gasket and a rubberized feeling bottom plate as well.  The really soft gasket doesn't have the notch for where the on/off switch sticks out, while the rubberized plate does.  I assumed the soft piece was the "waterproofing" gasket, but I want to make sure I get it installed correctly.

Do I just put the really soft gasket on top of the riser I plan to use then the sight?  If so, what is the other bottom plate for?  This is the actual Speedbead kit that was purchased and not the mount and Fastfire seperately.

Does anyone know the correct way to install the gaskets?  I have seen pictures of people using just the thicker hard gasket plate, just the soft gasket, or both!  I just don't know what is the correct way to ensure the best protection from moisture...

Just in case anyone else has this question, I spoke with Burris customer service a few minutes ago about it.

With the Fastfire II speedbead mount, you should use the thicker more rigid gasket.  The thin flexible gasket is not needed!

That's correct.  I always use the hard gasket when possible.  This is only for the FastFire 1 & 2.  No gaskets are required on the FF3
