If all you were ever gonna make was strikers, then a cheap Harbor Freight lathe would be fine. BUT,,,,, if you think you would ever want to turn more than that, just go ahead and spend the money and get a Jet

I have 2 jet mini variable speed lathes.  They are set up end to end on my bench.  I have one dedicated to turn strikers, the other to turn pot calls.

I haven't used a Delta, but love my Jet lathes.  I have also heard good things about the Rikon lathes.  You can expect to pay around $450-$500 for a good mini-lathe.

I have a harbor freight lathe also, been working fine for years, good one to start out with, then you can move up and pay $1000 extra for a variable speed switch.
