Title: New turkey decal design
Post by: gobblerkiller on March 05, 2011, 09:04:32 PM
DCC has released a new sticker design for showing the love for all those turkeys that we all love! Those ones that ride home with us in the bed of our trucks. Thanks for looking!

I like it, I would move the word "of" down below the turkey though, so it would just say "In Loving Memory" across the top.

Well I could, if you are paying for gas, I will drive down to Florida and "Liberate" the picture off of Gobbler Ds truck..  ;D

But in all seriousness, not saying you cant use it, personally don't care, but just pointing out Gobbler D had that on his truck and a picture in sig of it

Yep, Gobbler D is the one that has it on his truck.  His is orange and has just a turkey head I believe.  I like the sticker but I'm not a fan of all of the white.  I normally get stickers that you stick on and then pill off leaving behind something smaller than what you stick on.  I think it would be cool if you had all of that white (the bird and the letters) and then all of what is white transparent.  It would make it smaller and the white would stand out more.  Not sure if that would be possible and I'm sure that would be difficult but it would look cool.

I'd rather have a gobbler hanging upside down.  Looks good though, but its not something I'd put on my vehichle.

I like pictures of turkeys in that pose.  I also got my hands on some of your calls for the first time last week - in stock at a gunshop in New Bern NC (Field and Stream Sports) - nice calls.

I agree with turkeybow. Make the background transparent, the letters white and leave the turkey just like it is. That would make a sharp looking sticker. It'd look good on my golf cart heading to the woods.

Thanks guys for all the input on the decal. I am working with on these changes as we speak. I was thinking of making them reflective as well so they will glow when we are coming out of the woods.

I don't know, just seems kind of distasteful to me. Mocking the bird we all have so much respect for, or at least we should. Why anyone would want to ride around with that on their truck is beyond me. Makes us look like blood thirsty killers who only see the game we pursue as something to kill. Just doesn't seem like the kind of message we want to be sending to everyone who passes you on the road. But, I am sure I will get chastised for saying this, so whatever.

I figured this sticker would get under some peoples skin. I do apologize, but if you knew me and how long and much time I spend enjoying this great sport of turkey hunting. I called a bird in for my son when he was 8 years old. I will remember that hunt till I take my last breath! I am just showing love for all those turkeys that have burnt that image in my brain, and that is the reason I head to the woods every spring to make another memory of that next tom gobbling and coming over the next ridge!

I don't think any apologies are necessary gobblerkiller. I have always found it to be an interesting observation of the human psyche in regards to comments I see from time to time related to "respect for the animal".  For example, somehow, that window sticker was viewed as disrespectful. However, shooting said animal at close range in the head with a load of heavy shot and then posing with a picture of said animal hung upside down by its feet is completely "respectful".  Go figure
