If you could only carry one pot call while hunting and no other calls, which materials and brand call would you pick?
It would be the one I've been carrying for the last 10 years or so.
It's a walnut pot slate over glass of my own concoction.
I would have Gary Joffrion of Magnolia Game Calls build me a osage slate, and never look back.
Wait,
he already did.
I would take my Hook's bronzed glass call.
David halloran sugartown sweetness
Cody Spec I slate..
woodhaven cherry classic crystal , or David Halloran crystal mistress
I would never go into the woods with just one call. Just sayin. LOL
TRKYHTR
Crystal Mistress for me too.
Cody drop dead slate....but what do I know!!

At least you picked my favorite friction call maker!!
Im going with Glen Marrer slate call or a Tim Sandford glass that has ended a bunch of turkeys
Crystal Mistress but really starting to like several aluminum calls.
Gooserbat's slate with a hickory striker
Zink crystal power hen. Been the death of a few birds.

my problem is I keep thinking its going to be my next call haha
I don't know if I could pick just one but I do sometimes carry just two pot calls and those are a Halloran Twisted Sister and Hooks aluminum
I guess any good slate over glass pot call.
Lights Out would be my first choice, a hard wood or laminated wood, but there are lots of other fine callmakers out there too.
One thing for sure, it would be from a custom or semi-custom pot call maker.
While I've killed lots of birds with production box calls like the Primos Box Cutter, I've had much better success with custom pot calls & strikers over mass produced pot calls.
Another thing for sure, I would want to carry 5-6 strikers if I could only carry one pot....
mudhen
Lightsout Aluminum with his Dymondwood striker.

David halloran sugartown sweetness :icon_thumright: :agreed:
I'd have to say a woodhaven cherry crystal classic or a David Halloran twisted sister. I never go into the woods without a ceramic a copper ora crystal though.
Out of the ones I have currently the Primos Crystal Freak would get the call. That is only because it is proven itself to me and this is the first year I have ever bought a custom pot.
The Yingling Copper Pot will ride with me this year.
Hot Hen Slate

Im with you. My go to is a blodgett but I just got my first stone road that I think may take my top spot.
Lights out - Anodized Aluminum
Darrin Dawkins Aluminum.
Thanks all. Was looking to add another call to the collection. I've got the Hot Hen by Lonnie Snead and the Lights Out Aluminum, both great calls. Based on the suggestions, looks like I should be adding either one of the Hallorans or a bronze glass call to my collection.
David Halloran Crystal Mistress hands down best call that i own.

I can't wait to take his copper call in the woods here in a few weeks. His is tied for the lead with my Ozark Custom Call spalted maple slate from Richard. Sounds like I might be picking up a few new calls... maybe a hot hen and a crystal mistress...
Well after reading a lot of good feedback on Lonnie Sneed calls , I called him up. Heck of a guy. I talked to him for over a hour. He ran about 6 calls for me over the phone. I ordered a hot hen slate off of him.

...I called him up. Heck of a guy.
For sure. He is a first class gentleman all the way around. You did well with your Hot Hen purchase.
American friction rock bottom glass call (glass over slate) :z-guntootsmiley: it's caused a few
Birds to take trip out over my shoulder.
North Bay 3" Slate over glass in cocobolo with some sapwood...but I have a biased opinion on this subject :toothy9:
A call i've been carrying a few years and won't leave the truck without is a HillBilly280 (Bobby Vanover)
3" copper over glass, in a cocobolo pot.
There is none finer. :icon_thumright:
Lonzo's glass over glass in birdseye maple...no doubt. That call is eat up with turkey.
Cody Spec 1 slate. Good things just seem to happen when I pull this call out of my vest, :icon_thumright:.
Glenn Marrer zebrawood glass/slate, awesome call!!!!
Copper pot with one my fiber rod strikers ,,Rain Snow Sleet or Shine i could run the pot
Lights out aluminum
