My gun is shooting a little low at 40 yards My question.. do I move the rear sight up the ramp ( higher) or pull it back down (make it lower) ? here is a picture looking down the barrel.

With the rear sight you raise the sight to make the gun shoot higher and lower the sight to make the gun shoot lower.
ok, so I need to push the sight forward ( towards end of the barrel) to raise the sight, thus make it shoot higher
It doesn't matter which way the rear sight is situated (ramp high end towards the end of the barrel or towards the stock), moving the rear sight up the ramp makes you have to raise the barrel end of the gun to get your sights to line up when you are aiming and this in turn makes it shoot higher.

Hard to tell from the picture. Like stated above, raise the rear if you are hitting low. If you aren't sure how to raise it, take a picture from the side and we will help with better instructions.
