Sounds like you should try a different choke.  250 or more is more like the norm.

The day I was there at William's it was about 35 degrees and raining... I haven't shot it since because it hasn't quit raining here in Savannah yet

I myself have had the best luck from the MAD Super Max .675 choke I bought off gunbroker for like $30 shipped.  It shoots the Hevi-13 3" # 7 loads very well.  Awesome 10" and 20" patterns.

Here's a better closeup of the 10" pattern.

Yeah that choke seems to throw em pretty dang good! You got the 28 barrel on yours?

Even at 45 degrees that choke will still do 230 in the 10" which is pretty good for that coll of temp.

Yes.  I had the 21" turkey barrel that came with the gun originally.  I traded it to a guy in GA for his 28" barrel.  We traded even.  I polished the heck out of the barrel before I shot it.  It shoots pretty much deadnut with open bead on the barrel.

Whats the difference in a .660 and a .665 choke? What does it do to the patterns?

Here's some different patterns from different chokes.

All are Hevi-13 3" 2oz #7 loads.

Indian Creek .668

You won't know until you shoot it and compare the chokes with the same exact load and lot #.  I tried a .665 Indian Creek BDS choke for the very first Indian Creek choke.  It was terrible.  Shot like both Jelly heads I tried with the 7's at about 200 shot in the 10" at 40yds taped.  Then I tried a .655 and it did about 255 in the 10".   I then tried the .668 and you can see that pattern above.  Nite and day difference between the .665 which was only .003 bigger in exit diameter which is odd.  But it is what it is.  Then I tried a .675.  Not as good as the .668.  I honestly believe a Indian Creek .670 choke to .675 is just about idea for 28" barrel 870.  But that may just be my barrel.

Here's one from the Ventilator choke that still blows my mind for a 45 degree day.  Now the next shot wasn't nearly this good.  But this was excellent for a 1.75oz load of 6's.

The best I have done with the Ventilator was 282 shot in the 10" with the #7's which was the one I posted earlier of the backside of the round cardboard.  Awesome choke for like $25 shipped.
