Title: 30 yard lead #s for 20 gauge inv+ and .563-5 Sumtoy Choke
Post by: R AJ on February 21, 2013, 05:54:52 PM
These numbers were from using a 28" inv+ barrel on a BPS 2/20/2013 at 30 yards just to give an idea of what different sized shot can do using the same shell source. I consider this choke to be lights out at 40 yds using either H-13#7 or Fed HW #7.

For lead 20 gauge at 30 yards these numbers are nothing to sneeze at and are from the old non FC Federal 3 - 1 5/16-4,5, & 6 lead loads. This is my preferred 20 gauge shell whether it be FC or non-FC. Remember that these are measured 30 yard numbers, not 40 yards.

#4 Lead - 102

#5 Lead - 125

#6 Lead - 168

Do not be fooled into thinking that 30 yard numbers mean you are good to 40 yards. A 168 may just be an 82 at 40 yards so you just have to know to be sure. Thank you Sumtoy for a great choke for lead or HTL.

My boy has the same gun.
Great numbers.  :icon_thumright: it's amazing what happens between the 30 & 40 range.
I'd like to see the 5's pattern if ya still have it. Here is my 6's pattern in a 12" turkey target. I counted 170s, give or take a few. This would have pummeled him. ;D
