I love smack talking and talking birds in general, butI kinda' worried about peaking too early. I know I have struttin' birds where I hunt because the land owner told me this morning...it will kill me to see that...I still got about 35 days to go.
We're supposed to have some rain tonite and tomorrow, so I might take my boy and go up in the morning to glass from the truck, since they'll probably hit the pastures in the light drizzle.
I'm fired up about getting the new Burris FFII in this week and getting her ready to go. I got my ammo in from Mid-Way yesterday, along with the kroil and polishing compound, so the rest of today I will be polishing my barrel the right way.
I just figured some guys just weren't a bunch of "Chatty Cathys" and didn't post up a lot, but it is kinda' dead up in here..... :newmascot:
Driving me nuts up here. Up until yesterday we had about 2 feet of snow, wasn't even seeing any birds in the fields. At least it has been raining for a day now and the snow is going fast, actually saw two different flocks in fields on way home from work this morning.
Hopefully I can start getting out and fixing up blinds and do some scouting, make some more calls if the wife will let me get into the shop in the next little bit. Still have to wait until end of april though to start hunting.
Now after typing this I can't wait for opening, Come on April 25th.
Yeah I can't wait to get things going. Looks like my Bama hunt is not going to happen >:( so I want be chasing any until April 1 unless someone needs a hunting partner before then. ;D ;D
Been out twice so far and haven't heard a thing but have pics of them and the sign is there so time will tell. :anim_25:
Went to cut a load of firewood this morning (sorry Derek, forgot to invite you along) in an area that should hold birds. Drove around a little just after shooting time and heard 0 and saw the same. Did get a nice load of split white oak though! March is firewood season for me as long as it doesn't rain too much.
Next week I'm going to a couple of spots to clear some shooting lanes and place some sticks/branches for ground blinds.

My hunting is 2 months 2 weeks away.
And I am leaving for Mexico in 2 weeks.
I will have to wait till I get back for the excitement to build.
Been out in the shop trying to get all the call orders done. I get just enough time to check in occasionally, then back to slaving. Got three flame box elder pots I am trying to get done, plus two crotch walnut pots. Then I can start on a customer who wants 8 box calls, and 12 pot calls :turkey2:

2 months till season....2 weeks till I start my trail camera scouting, Will have pics to post and things to get excited about then, still 6 inches of snow here

Outside of the Full Strut team it's dead on all the team threads, ;D including mine. Really a lot different than last years contest as far as enthusiasm. Maybe once people start hunting it'll pick up.
I know I'm ready... I also recruited a friend for this year's spring hunt :z-guntootsmiley:
He bought a 10 gauge last year and had yet to shoot it. I gave him a limsaver slip-on pad and we blew some stuff up!
I gave him a call tonight, and he is now registered to take hunter's safety for april 6th! :jackson:
