Made these two over this weekend. The duck call is a buckeye burl barrel, the band is elk antler, and the insert is striped ebony. This one is headed to south GA.
The trumpet is a maple burl body with buffalo horn mouthpiece and adjustable lipstop. It is headed to the classifieds
those are sharp. Never turned buckeye burl----how is it to turn? :drool:

Its pretty easy to turn, just keep the tools sharp to prevent tear out

Was your buckeye burl stabilized? You mentioned "tearout", so that made me wonder.
I have never had a problem with tearout on stabilized buckeye burl. It costs a little more to have it stabilized, but it turns like butter afterwards.
