I just recently moved to SE Kansas and was wondering if anyone could give me some info on a good guide or where some good public ground for a turkey hunt in NE Oklahoma. Any information would be great. Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will give them a call.
Black Kettle National Grassland....Public ground, see ya there.....Good luck in Ok :cowboy:
Lots of public land here in OK with huntable birds. Check out this link:

and check out a few. A little homework will save you guide fees.
Thanks for all the info. I don't live far from Oklahoma line here in SE Kansas so scouting public land wouldn't be a problem especially if the public is in NE Oklahoma.
I've dabbled a little in the public lands of north and east OK, alot of the properties were heavily damaged by the big ice storm several years back. Too the point of being not huntable. Not sure how they've rebounded since then.
I have pretty much given up hunting public ground in this area of the state. So little time to hunt and the bird population isn't what it used to be..add to that so many hunters.

My son went to school NE Ok St in Tahlequah. While he was there we hunted Cherokee & Cookson Hills WMA's. Killed turkeys there every year he was there. There is some pressure but mostly on weekends.
As far as Oklahoma Turkeys it's realy simple, if it's rio's then the hunting is pretty good, but if it's eastern birds then look else where. I wouldn't go any farther east than Tulsa.
