Title: Flight control wad and different chokes?
Post by: deer-turkeyhunter on January 31, 2013, 09:04:39 PM
Hello,
I just purchased a truglo ssx and have a old Indian creek that are ported( holes Around the choke tube itself). My question is if I shoot federal HW #7 with flight control will this be a bad thing?  What are others experiencing?  Thanks in advance

I wouldn't with the IC. It's fine in the SSX.

If you look in the SSX, the choke opens up where the porting is on the end of the choke. I don't think it interferes with the wad. My gun shoots fed 7s great with the SSX

Here's my experience.  Savduck is correct with the SSX.  It shouldn't be a problem and does shoot that load very well.  The Indian Creek on the other hand...well I think it depends.  If you have the older model (non SS, bought 3-4 years ago) I would say no.  I shot maybe 2 Fed HW's through it and it cracked.  Indian Creek sent me a new one (SS stamped on the side) and I have shot it plenty times with no trouble.  Please keep in mind, that IC does say not to shoot the Flight Control out of their ported chokes.
