I am not a violent person, I find myself to be rather passive, but I have to say the things surrounding us in this world has me thinking about protecting what is ours. We have been broken into at our home and our church was broken into twice, I just handed it over to the authorities back then, but today so much crime is running rampant even in our little town of 1350 people. We had to run off a drug dealer out of our yard along with a couple of his thugs this past week, so I broke down and purchased a 38 special Taurus revolver. Took the wife out today to practice shooting, let me say this, crooks beware...........I just wanted to sound off on this to see what others think about home protection.....
Protect what s yours and don't give it a 2nd thought!

We all need to be prepared to protect the lives of our loved ones. A little time spent at the range is time well spent. Doris and I became NRA Certified Pistol Instructors some time back and it's very rewarding to see someone who has never held a gun, much less fired one, become confident and proficient in just a short time at the range.
When we have guns, we need to know how to use them. It's like the old Boy Scout motto, "Be Prepared". There is just no substitute for it.

I have prepared for home defence.I pray the day never comes.We have motion detecting lights at each door.All doors are securely locked.No one is getting in without making a lot of noise.They could make it in the lower level of the house...But no one will ever make it up the stairs.My choice for home defence,a CZ 75 SP-01,9mm 18+1,with 2 mags.
I have to say, my wife feels safer, she also seems to be more confident handling a pistol. I really like this lil' pistol, it wasn't expensive and shoots excellent. thanks for the comments...pappy

We have not had any incidents like you have experienced.
However, other areas of Houston are having similiar problems. Ammo and guns are selling at a high rate. One gun store is limiting certain ammo to one box per customer.
In our case, my wife recently got her conceal permit. I purchased her a handgun and she qualified with it. Most of my friends and some of my family have their conceal permit. All classes are full and in some cases there is a waiting period.
I firmly think we have to protect our homes. By the time the police arrive, its already over with. They get there in time to write the report. I hope I don't have to, but I am prepared to protect my family and property.
I hunt on a lease in south Texas and carry a loaded gun at all times. I sleep with a 9 mm under my pillow. This is primary a illegal problem. They break in, steal and tear up things.
