Post by: Hersh on January 01, 2013, 09:03:34 PM
Just bought my son an SA-08 youth model with a 24" barrel. Anybody have any choke tube and shell setups you have good success with. Thanks Ryan

Savduck has one, I believe he is running a Sumtoy and Federal Hw 7's.

I have one with a 28 inch barrell. Im running a sumtoy 562-5 with federal 7s. I killed 3 gobblers with it the last two weekends of our season. Ive shot about 15 targets at 40 with that combo, and it averages about 155 at forty, with some individual pattern in the 170s, but its a good even spread. My thirty yard was in the 240s. I have also shot a PG 555 tempest, PG 570 tempest, PG 570 ported, 555 swarm and an undertaker choke. All the PG golds put up 100 to 115 type 40 yard pattern...little more open if your setting it up for a youngin. if you want to set it up for your son....Id recommend the pure gold tempest 570. Its gonna give you a dense 40 yard pattern, but spread it out a little in the 20 ring. That 155 pattern is gonna be way to tight for a kid. I love my Sum toy in this gun. Now thinking about it, if you went with a 562-3....it would open up the pattern a little but still be a great 100 in 10 type pattern. William's choke are very evenly spread, thats what I like about them.

Light weight, well built, swings good, shoots soft. Patterns great.

Dupree on here also got one. He is gonna come shoot his and try some of my chokes before he buys one. I bought an SSX 550 but havent shot it yet.

I remember that little 870 of Craigs putting up 340 with that 562-3 you made him that day.

We have had a few go bigger then that.  I think the 20ga makes the TSS shine.

I bought off a member on here that got it direct from weatherby. He said he paid 85 for it from weatherby.

It's the grip from their 20 ga defense shotgun.

Thanks for the info guys.  I will work on getting it set up in the next few months. He can't wait for turkey season, I think we will go out for some late season squirrel. Hersh
