I've got a definite (and strange) opinion on this one. I bought a relatively cheap leafy suit from Bass Pro, I think it was their Redhead (store) brand. The first time I wore it I scared turkeys because the back side of the leaves was very light, almost white. When it blew in the wind, it spooked the turkeys. I took it home and dyed it to make it darker BUT... it got dark enough that it blobbed up from a distance so THAT didn't work, either. Finally I was inspired. I got the most obnoxious bright green (spring green) surgical scrubs I could find. I now wear those scrubs underneath my leafy suit and you'd be amazed at how it breaks you up in the woods. I got caught about 30 yards in the field out of the treeline and had a turkey fly down. I just squatted down and was able to call him in to about 35 yards when my buddy shot him (he was crouched behind me). Another time I had a single buckbrush plant between me and a turkey at 9 yards... and nothing but field behind me. I think that you can click on my picture and see what it looks like... I love it, strange as it looks.
wish I knew where to get one in spring mimicry that was a heck of a turkey pattern
For my scrubs I just went to e-Bay and looked until I found as bright of a spring green as I could. Wish mine had a bit more of a yellowish cast so that it looked more like the first tender shoots of springtime, but it works.
If you can still find a mossy oak obsession Diffusion 3D suit they are awesome. I've used one now for 5 years and it has held up great. They use to be real pricey but I saw some sales on them a while back... not sure if they still make them. One of the features I liked was the strip that runs on the inside of your legs are solid material instead of the leafy stuff so they don't rub and make noise
If you are still looking the ASAT leafy suit just flat out works. I generally wear it when bowhunting without a blind as it really conceals movement.
I personally like the Cabelas brand leafy suit, very tough, holds its color good, very light weight, and you can get the whole suit for 100 dollars.
I got my leafy suit at Walmart one year on clearance. It's been a good one. I think it's mossy oak break up pattern.
