Title: Same Buck?
Post by: njdevilsb on November 23, 2012, 11:09:44 AM
The picture on the right is the buck I got this year in Illinois.  I was going through the pictures from their trail cameras and found him.  Do you guys think the buck in the first picture is the same deer?  The first picture is from 2010, the second from this year.  The rack looks similarly shaped this year, just bigger if it is him.  The brow tine on our left, his right, is bigger on both.  The little kicker wasn't there back then.  I was just curious to see what you guys thought.

Here's a picture straight on, more like the trail cam pictures.

Link to original thread I posted when I got him.

In my opinion, No.
The main beams on the buck in the 2010 pic turn in whereas on your buck they sweep upwards. Main beams usually keep the same features from my experience.

That makes sense.  I did notice that and wasn't sure what the beams generally do.

I would agree that it is likely not the same deer, but I would not bet my life on it.  Great buck, regardless.

I agree with the others. However, he's a hog! Congrats!

It looks alot like the same one however it might just be that it was sired by the same father and its got the same character traits, my brother shot a nice 9 point years ago that had an almost identical rack to a buck taken in the same spot 3 or 4 years prior. Maybe its the twin to the one in the picture giving it the similarities it has
