Post by: ddhotbot on November 22, 2012, 10:54:42 AM
will it hurt my pattern to use a ported tobe in my ported 835? i want a tight pattern more for card shoots than turkey hunting.

We do a good bit of card/board shooting in this part of the world. There are all kinds of combinations that seem to work. Long-barreled 835s, most non-ported but some ported work well in most of those shoots. Most of what we see are custom chokes, non-ported but factory chokes ported and non-ported occasionally show up at some shoots.

I've used the older Wright's limited production 835 chokes (early discontinued models) that are non-ported and very smooth inside with excellent results. Our shoots are generally 60' and we use #9 shot. They will blow holes.

Thanks,
Clark

The 835/935 work ok.  Now if you have other guns you will be better off with them. Now if it is a gauge shoot you can do ok.  Now in normal anything goes shoot you will get the breaks beat off you by other guns.  Now if you only have this gun put a 675 in it.  You can call any of the builders that work on CARD Shoot guns and they will tell you the same.

Now if you roll with this gun get you a SumToy or IC choke and let the lead fly.  If you find a StarDot they work also.
