Title: Jellyhead and Nitro 7's????
Post by: VAlongbeard84 on March 03, 2011, 12:08:59 AM
Anyone have any experience with the Jellyhead .570 and nitro straight 7's in a remington 20 gauge?? Just curious how it done in comparison to say a PG .555 or .570?? Any input would be appreciated. This is a recommended choke on nitros website, just looking for feedback from you guys. Thanks.

I don't know anything about the straight #7's, but a buddy of mine shot the 4x5x7 load through his 870 and jellyhead .570. He got 204 in a 12" circle at 40yds.

No experience with the JH.. But it all comes down to how tight you want it.. IF you want numbers to impress the internet folk go with the SSX 550 or the PG 550.. IF you want killing patterns go with something in the 570 range, in all honesty them Nitros with any turkey choke are gonna produce killing patterns at 40 +..

If I go back to Nitro next year.. I am going to work with flush Full or 580 or so chokes and look for 160 at 40

Just posted about this on another thread, but mine did around 180 in a 10" at 40 with the Jellyhead and the Nitro 7's. As Shootumindaface said, I'm not sure I'd want it any tighter.

X2, I would prefer 170-180 over the 200+... 200+ leaves little room for error.

Thanks for the input guys. I have a PG .555 and a PG .570. I am leaning towards the .570 right now, just to not have it too dang tight close in. I also just picked up a JH .570 to try with them. I just have to wait and see when I pull the trigger on the 3 chokes with the nitros and see what happens. I'm sure the PG .555 will be the numbers winner for sure, but if the .570's get in the 180-200 range, I will hunt with them in a heartbeat over the .555.

Just FYI, I shoot a  Remington SPS-T in a 20 gauge. I use a Jellyhead choke as well and I started with Hevi Shot #7's but I found mine patterns much better with Hevi Shot #6's. If the mood strikes you, try some #6's and you might be suprised at the results as well.

Good luck this Spring!
