After 20 years of owning the property this is the first year I have seen any signs of these critters. I may have to hunt a little bit this fall now. There are at least three of them and this is the second time they have shown up on camera. I hate wild hogs.

Get after 'em quick and kill every one you see... they breed FAST and often!
Do they have an effect on spring turkey hunting?

They will eat the eggs and even the poults if they get the chance. So eventually yes.

Looks like you need to be having bacon and eggs for breakfast, go get em
"And Then There Were Two".
I started at my listening spot this morning and didn't hear any. After about thirty minutes I decided to still hunt the vermons suspected daytime haven. I stalked up on a small bedded buck, looked to be and eight point through the scope. Got within about 60 yards before he blew out of there. I continued for another hour or so and thought I spotted a fan, turned out to be a pig tail. I haven't hog hunted in over 20 years and wasn't sure of the proper hog pursuit etiquette, so I stalked to within what I perceived to be 39 1/2 yards. I picked out what I thought was a hen full of eggs. I don't know why but I clucked once and pulled the trigger. I should have taken the automatic instead of the bolt action. I probably could have killed all three instead of just the big hen. One of the other ones is a gobbler fo sure but I'm not sure about the other one.

Congrats! I hope you had her processed or at least saved the good parts. I'm finally getting pics of a couple of hogs back on one of the places I hunt. The corn and cameras are out...

Nope, stopped by some folks house on the way out and asked them if they wanted it. They sent two of their grand kids out to get it. Good people who don't have much, but would give you anything they have. They acted like I just gave them a million dollars. Made me promise to stop back by and try some of it one day.
Good to hear it didn't go to waste. Sounds like you might have provided Thanksgiving dinner for some folks. :icon_thumright:
