Title: My First Fall Bird
Post by: Crappiepro on October 28, 2012, 04:36:12 AM
I got my first fall shotgun bird last wedsday morning! I had been seeing birds using a fresh cut corn field and knew my chances were good. I set up on the edge, with the birds roosted 80 yrds behind me over a large creek. Well come daylight they were really making the noise. they held the tree's for awhile and then started pitching down right over the top of me, I could hear the wind in their wings as they flew right over the top of me. This hen hit the field and I took her. I had plans on a full body mount or decoy but the taxidermist where I checked her in said he couldn't do much with it after the pattern did a number on the breast. I had the back feathers and tail mounted instead.
I tried with the bow but couldn't get it done! maybe next year LOL.
