I thought I would get a better pattern than this. Thouse of you than know my rig knows it will do better than than that. It allways averages from 320-- 351 couldn't believe 258 need to really deep clean it.

I have the same setup and got 324. Try a deep clean and if that does not improve try polishing your barrel.
I wouldnt expect 350 though. Leave that to the mossburgs.
Make sure that your Indian Creek is clean. The wad catchers gather plastic crud quick.

yeah i dont think that pattern will kill a turkey.
How can you be disappointed in 258? That is a great pattern. It is not where you are used to shooting, but it is great NTL. How is the Mueller?
Very few guns that I know of will consistently avg 300 shot in a 10" regardless if your shooting 3.5" or 3" Hevi-13 loads. Now in certain temp and certain lots, that may be obtainable but still highly unlikely if you were to just keep firing round after round. Too many varibables is what I found. There is nothing wrong with that pattern. Some will be better for sure. But repeatable 300 shot in a 10" would be a miracle in my opinion.
That's providing if guys aren't counting a lot of the snowman pellets as 2 shot. My 835 shoots great patterns, but it will not consistently shoot 300 shot in a 10" at 40yds day in and day out. That is consistency.
Hey Ray how ya doing, I love the mueller sight. Yes the pattern is good an tight but you know I but better numbers up than that......
I just don't think 258 will take a turkey down :o

yes we all know it will but if your gun is capable of better numbers with the combo your using then why not go for it?

It looks like the other 42 or more shot have started going into the same hole as other shot so that the shooter feels bad and wonders why all of a sudden his pattern has waned somewhat. :o ::)

Would love to have a pattern like that It looks great! :icon_thumright:
I would get rid of that gun if it was me. I tell you what....I'll come haul it off for you at no cost to you. :goofball:
I would use that pattern to shoot a turkey any day. Higher numbers are great but if that was a turkey head you would be getting ready to pack him home. Numbers are great and make interesting posts but your pattern is so good you would kill anything with in that circle. I would keep that gun if I were you.
:fud:
I know the pattern is good, I'm just wondering were my number went to, I know numbers don't kill birds, but if the gun shoots good numbers I want it to shoot like it was doing before.

You might have gotten a box that contained all 7s :TooFunny:
Shootum, that is funny, but its sad but true!! There is alot of variation on these shells from one box to another. Alot!!! I set my 12 gauge 11-87 sps-t up last year with a jellyhead .660, and with the same load, can get around 320 on average. My last 8 shots were over 300, anything from 304-324. I found out what the lot number of those shells were, and bought a ton of boxes from midsouth shooters supply right after I found the combo in the same lot number. Actually I bought every box they had with that number. Lot numbers on boxes are big with hevi-13, there is a big difference between them. I just counted, I bought 19 boxes, Haha!! I won't ever have to buy another shell for the 12 gauge. Good luck to you BigHooks, it's more than likely not the gun or choke, it is the shell deviation. It can be drastic sometimes. See if the lot number was different. And shootum is really on the right track IMO.
