Title: Red Wing boots.
Post by: mikejd on October 22, 2012, 08:36:17 PM
I was just looking on the Red Wing website for a new pair of work boots. I have been wearing them for about 15yrs. Long story short good luck finding an American made pair. If you take notice even the flags for the laces are gone. There are a few pairs left but thats it. Sad.

I wore Redwing's forever. As long as you stay away from the Irish Setter line, you will still find some that are made here. I have enclosed the link for the style that I wore most often. The soles will never wear out, and I worked on concrete all day, and they are made in America. Hope this helps, some..Mike

Worked on concrete 12 hrs a day in a paper mill most of my life. I swore by Wolverines.

Good Luck

I know a lot of guys that wore Wolverines, but they didn't make a pair that would fit my big feet..

I am currently wearing a pair of steel-toe Red Wings.  This December makes 3yrs on the same boot.  I'll probably get another year or 2 out of them.

I know what you mean..Redwings rock!! I was an Ironworker and could get a year out of the model I linked to. That is incredible, as far as longevity, for an Ironworker's boots. 6 months is the norm..The boot actually wore out before the soles..Incredible..

That's sad that you couldn't find many pairs made in the U.S. anymore, but I couldn't recommend another brand as far as work boots go. I never understood what the big deal was about Redwings till I started wearing them. They are hands down the most incredible work boot I've worn. I'm still wearing the first pair my company bought me a few years ago, and they still look practically new. I can't wear them out.

We called them deadwings where I worked. Lasted maybe 6 weeks. I finally broke down and had a pair custom made at Drew's Boots in Oregon.

Made in Minnesota

Did I miss the memo or was MN taken over by the Chinese when I was sleeping??? Maybe it was only 80% of the state because thats the percentage of Red Wing Shoes made in China or with imported materials.
