My son and I went Salmon fishing today and had alot of fun. We both caught one and I caught a 3# native steelhead that I had to release. Then I went off and left my rod and reel where we cleaned the fish. I called my BIL who is a Sac County Sheriff, because I thought he might be working today. He called a ranger who went to look for it and found it laying right where I left it. God was looking out for me today, and every day. I didn't realize I had left it until I was home, which is over an hour away.

Very cool
Congrats on both the beautiful fish and also the memories shared between a father and a son.
Nice catch, glad you guys had fun.
Nice fish and a pretty river!!
Nice fish but crowded fishing. Time to fire up the smoker :icon_thumright:
Some fun times for sure. Looks like a little "Combat Fishing" on the river that day! Glad you guys got out and you didn't lose that rod!
FISH ON!

Good job :-) I fish the American River all year round. I see that you where at Sailor Bar access. That's a good spot all year round. However it gets over crowded fast.
I plan on hitting the American River this weekend.
The picture below us the Watt AVE access.
