Title: Walnut Box
Post by: TRKYHTR on September 14, 2012, 05:07:32 PM
Walnut Box with a Maple lid and bottom with matching walnut and maple inlays. 20 checker Cost style box call. Soundfile at the bottom. This call was running out of chalk by the end because I had played it so much. Going to the classies.

Joe, looks good and I guess you, like me, enjoy a good challenge with the walnut.  I like the varied sound you have in opposite rails.  Gotta get me some of that English Walnut...tell me is it fairly hard, or run a bit softer?

It's hard as a rock. I thought it would be softer than black walnut but I was wrong. I hate working with it. It is very much a challenge to tune.
