This male black bear found my table scrap piles and corn feeder in my yard while we were out of town this weekend. We saw him the first time this evening while eating supper he walked through the yard within 10 steps of kitchen window but left before we could get a camera. Later we walked outside to leave and he was standing 20 yards from myself, my wife, and daughters. We slipped back inside and took a couple pics and some video. I don't feel too great about him hanging out where my kids play.

"Shoot'em Lizbeth"!! ...J/k I would definitely contact your local wildlife officer to see what steps they could take to have the bear removed from your area. I don't think trying to "scare" him off will do any good since he's already found a reliable food source. Maybe someone with more expertise will chime in with some better advice. Good luck and God Bless, Steve
Take away the food and make sure you don't leave your garbage outside. He will go away rather quick when there is nothing to eat.
cayenne pepper, cover your garbage with it
Call the game and fish folks to relocate a nuisance bear. The game and fish dept. about 2 miles from me has one of the barrel/trailer traps. We don't have bears within 45 minutes from my house, but they will take the trap to the bear's "neck of the woods".
Remove the food source for sure. Here in Mi. with heat and lack of rain the berries are non existent .Kamski had one try to break into his truck to get at some garbage he was fixin to take to the dump. They are hungry. The bait hunters should do well this year,
Talk to the DNR, if that doesn't work then choot'em! I'll take the fine to protect my children
Corn and table scraps...might as well put out a pile of jelly donuts for him.
Get rid of the free meal and he will move on. Take down any bird feeders too or you will lose those in the process.
I don't keep garbage outside. Either in a garage in a can or in a trash bin 400 yards form the house. We will put the table scraps in the garbage disposal and I won't be putting out any more corn for a while. I full expect he will tear open my garbage container any day, but so far he hasn't damaged anything. Talked to the Game and Fish Commission this morning and they are willing to relocate him. I will give it a few days to see if he goes away on his own. Good point about the bird feeders.
