Title: Butternut and Walnut - sound file added
Post by: styger on June 15, 2012, 12:26:09 AM
I am amazed at how well these worked together. Can't wait to put up a sound clip of this one.

Has a real sweet sound to it. Thanks for looking and as always feedback is appreciated.

When I make a call I try a bunch of different lids while I am "tuning" the soundboards. I really was planning to put a purpleheart lid on this but the reality was a cherry lid and this walnut lid sounded way better so that is how I made it. It's more difficult but I can hold the lids before drilling the call or the paddle and find the best one for any given call, at least the best one to my ear. You will notice in the video I have trouble purring on this call. It does work and I found the right spot but it took a couple of tries. I think this one sounds as good as the mineral poplar call I love so much. Check out the sound.

I can't figure out why the lid looks two different colors in the picture. It doesn't look that way to me when I hold it?
