Interesting idea but it will put the sight a long way from your eye.

Drilled and tapped my rib and mounted this small red dot. Works exceptionally well. Have 50 or so rounds thru it with no issues. Personnally like the scout style set up...

I just put one on my 870. Haven't shot it yet but it seems pretty solid. I like the long cantilever too, but I went with this because the thought of the abuse the sight would take bouncing around on the cantilever like a diving board worried me. Might not be a big deal but I felt better about the aimtech mount.

Now I have a dedicated barrel for turkey, another that's fully rifled with cantilever and scope, and yet another that's a normal tubed barrel with regular sights. A gun for all seasons!
