I was wondering how many of you guys owned one of the old bottomland 3.5" topper h&r's with the removable choke? I seen a nwtf model on here awhile back. I picked one up in mint condition. It's a 91 model. Not gonna make a go to turkey gun out of it, just putting it in the turkey gun library for a talk piece. She sure is a sweet little thing. I can't imagine touching off a 3.5" in it..wooo-son. I will have to take it out a day a year or something. I'm not big on single shots for turkey hunting but had to have one of these, must have been the old camo.

I had one just like it back in the day....shot it once and returned it....one shot was more than enough for me.
That thing kills on one end and cripples on the other!!
I had one of those years ago but gave it to a friend who really enjoyed it. I also had the 20 gauge model that looked just like that one and I gave it to a fellow whose son needed a turkey gun.
Those guns will let you know when you shoot them, regardless of what shell you shoot through them.
Thanks,
Clark
Shoulder too... somebody called the cops. :TooFunny:

Aint you a big ole boy ? Go ahead & fire one down range & give us a report ! :icon_thumright:
I added a few pounds of lead wheel balance weights to the butt stock of my 12ga. NEF 3 1/2 " . I took off the pad and filled the synthetic stock. If that is a wood stock I'd drill holes and fill with lead. Add a Shooters Friend slip on recoil pad and hunt Turkeys. I think when I was all done it weighed 9lbs± --- I shoot 3" 12 ga in mine. Web
I bought the pardner 12 ga with modified barrel in early 90's. Sent it to H&R and had a 3-1/2" turkey barrel fitted. With a kicks GT it throws an amazing pattern with 3.5" Win XX 6's! When you set it off it will take a few seconds to remember where you are at and what you are doing!! Killer though.
looks like new !!! :happy0064:

Never been lost, just a bit confused for a month or two seems to ring a bell...haha
bring that old girl down and i'll break her in and then i'll make a trip to the dentist !!!! :z-flirtysmile3:
I have a similar gun, but mines an H&R Slug Gun Hunter 12ga. It's got the 10ga barrel bored out to 12ga. I shoot the older 3" Federal sabot slugs outta it. I'll have to switch when I run out, cause I don't think they make that particular kind any more. Shot a bunch of deer with it too it the special regs. areas.
But I must say.........It is the hardest kicking gun that I own. I've never shot 3.5" outta it, but I'm pretty sure it's chambered for 3.5"

You could it to the range with someone you don't like and let them touch off a Nitro....that ought to teach them to be nice to you.
had one just like it in the old mossy oak greenleaf pattern
I never shot a 3.5" out of it, but shot some great patterns out of it with 3"
wish now I had never sold it

Fine lookin' gun! I'd love to own one. You have to shoot at least one bird with it and retire it with dignity!
Send to me. I'll shoot that sumbeech! ;)
My 8 yr old daughter killed her bird with a 20 ga 3" nitro 7 this year in an H&R. She did grimace a bit after the shot but was cool as a cucumber after she got to her bird. Thankfully it was 29 degrees on youth day this year. I had her dressed up like deer season. Thick jacket on it didnt even leave a mark. She done all her patterning with dove loads and high brass 5's. When the time came for the killing shot I had that nitro in there. She never was the wiser and wasnt thinking about the recoil. I think I will get her some of those hs 7's from Em to lighten her up a bit. I started her out shooting 3ft sq paper explaining how the pattern worked with the bead and how she had to hold and such. She took quick to realizing where the bead had to be lined up in order to shoot straight. I had to put some time in with her right eye dominance and we have overcome that as well. Crossing over was causing her to shoot wide. I dropped her down to 8" paper plates to make her fine tune her hold. In all she fired about 70 rounds with the light loads learning her gun and how to shoot. This is partly thanks to the lead sled letting her shoot without getting gun shy. She has really taken to shooting and thats fine by me. I think so many kids out there are exposed the wrong way whether it be a 12 ga right off the bat or incorrect shooting practices. Looking at getting her a small pump for xmas. She's wearing me about about squirrel season now. Get your kids to the range. It is great memories there and the woods.

my buddy wants to pick up one of the H&R 10 gauges to chase birds with... I think he's nuts, 3 1/2s outta my autoloader is enough for me, its gotta be hard to hold onto that one, but the camo is sweet
Them 10's are a beast in feel and weight for a single...which helps a pile on recoil though. I think the barrel is way more heavy duty than it needs to be. Front heavy. Not much difference in the 3.5" 12 and 10 to warrant the design. even a single they are around 9 lbs. pick one up and look how heavy duty the barrel is. The wall thickness of my browning 10 barrels are similar to 12 ga. I guess its better to be extra safe than sorry.
SHOOT IT !! :funnyturkey:
A decent pad and some old whites would make for a light weight turkey smasher. Add a ff and it'd be even better.

Old whites, LOL...I will stick to some stuff I can readily get. I do miss those. I've been moving towards federal hw 7's in most of my 12's. Won't be any alterations made. I keep my old school stuff original. Latest scope is an eotech purchase for a browning gold 10 ga. I do still have that rail you made, it will go on something one day.
