Title: stardot for 11-87
Post by: snoodlum on June 04, 2012, 05:15:52 PM
Browsing turkey chokes today at local shop. He had an original stardot .668 for remington for $50. I know how great the old stardots are in the 835/935 because I have one! But I have read that the rem stardots are not that impressive. Would the .660 JH be a better choke for the 1187 or should I grab the SD . They are the same$.    Thanks

I'd  pass on the Rem Star Dot.  I had one and gave it away.

Buy you a Rem Ventilator .655 turkey choke from CDNN for around $22 shipped.  It will smoke that Star Dot.

I recently purchased the ventilator. Only shot 2 shells thru it. win hv 3 in 1.75 #6 and 3 in win xx  #5. Didnt like either! My rem SF was better. Guess I should try more shells in it. You shot hevi thru your ventilator?

My star-dot in my 870 SM with H13 3.5/2.25/7 did 285/10/40. I think that is pretty good. The 3" load only did 210.

I would definitely go with the JellyHead .660! Something about the JellyHead and Remmy's, the stars seem to line up with them.

They didn't line up very well in my 28" 870 barrel with either Jelly Head.

I guess what they say about some barrels are different is true.
