Title: Eastern Idaho/Western Wyoming Turkey Hunting???
Post by: BlakeJ on May 23, 2012, 04:45:06 PM
We have some family friends with a place in Driggs, ID that we use to go up and ski.  This past March we spotted some turkeys along the side of the road strutted up in the snow and even got one to gobble back at me a couple times.  I'd like to go up there and try to freelance some public land merriams, but internet info isn't that great.  Does anyone know anything about turkey hunting that area?  It would be a cheap hunt for me, free place to stay with an SUV to use as well, all I would need to buy would be airfare.

Any/all info would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know much about that area, but according to the Fish and Game book, that whole area around Driggs is controlled hunts only.  If you're not familiar with controlled hunts, you have to apply by a certain date and hope you get drawn.

The closest general season hunting to that area is down along the southern Idaho border by I-15 in hunt units 73, 74, 75, 77 and 78.

Sorry if you already knew all that.

Good luck!
