This Merriams gobbler makes Jimmy Wilhelm's final bird in a "all 49 states" goal. Been a long road and many miles. I was there for 4 of the 49 in the last five years starting at #38 in Wisconsin. I wish I could have been there for all of them. I called this gobbler to the gun last Thurs morning on May 3rd. Sending in his final paper after our season ends in VA as all the state kills are registered for him. What an achievement. This year has included 2 va kills for him and 1 va plus 1 missouri kill for me.

That is awesome!! I've been working on a goal of the lower 48 states. I'm not going to hunt Hawaii. Tell him congrats!! He just renewed my drive to get 'er dun!!! :icon_thumright:
Wow awesome feat US SLAM only the second one to accomplish it. My next personal goal. A GREAT BIG CONGRATS goes out to him.

Very nice going,congrats!!
What he's done on a working man's budget includes sleeping in vehicles and a lot of door knocking. The stories are awesome to listen too from a "blue collar" perspective. He's no rich guy. He's only flown twice and used a handful of outfitters for states like Utah, California, Hawaii. Overall probably the cheapest route its been accomplished by.
What is the one state in which he did not kill a turkey?
Alaska!!!
That is awesome! I can't imagine killing turkeys in 49 different states. A great big congrats to him!

Barry,
I've heard through some grapevines that the number is under 10 supposedly. Id like to know for sure. I'm sure you heard about the guy in southwest va that finished his last year. All his are registered with tag numbers and locations like Jimmys through nwtf. That fella mentioned in local news he's the first to register all his birds and a heck of a goal. I guess its all in how you look at it. Registered or not anyone who's done it has put some time in. We know of a couple others doing it know. What hurt jimmy is California and Arizona. They took 3 years each. He finally went outfitter on his third trip to California.
Quite the accomplishment. Congrats

AWESOME! Congrats man thats great! :you_rock:
Wow!! I do some traveling and know that took some major traveling to get it done!! Congrats to him!!
The guy from VA is Daniel Rorrer from Pulaski, he is supposed to be the first to have killed in all 49 states and have all 49 birds registered with the NWTF, there is an article on it in the NWTF Turkey Country mag this month, we presented our Louisiana State NWTF Chapter President Randy Stafford of Franklinton a plaque and shirt in January of 2011 for him accomplishing the feat, he is in the process of registering all his now, there are several more out there also, I'm a long way from it, but is an amazing feat for anyone, Congrats on adding your name to the list
Congrats! What an accomplishment!
:icon_thumright: :z-winnersmiley:- congrats

I'm sure. You could have swapped hunts and tried our part of the woods.
Great accomplishment for sure.
How did he do North Dakota? I believe they still don't sell out of state tags.. did he go Indian Reservation or something? Are reservation birds still OK to register with NWTF?
I am just curious.
Jim
did he kill all them birds with lead or some with hevi ?
Congrats! What an accomplishment!
