Favorite wood for a pot is Zebrawood.
Longbox is cherry over butternut.
Shortbox os maple over mineral poplar or cherry over sassafras.

I like bubinga for a pot call, looks great and makes a good sounding call.

It's too hard for me to narrow down to one wood for pot calls.  I like ambrosia maple, quarter-sawn white oak, yelowheart, canarywood, osage orange, bubinga, rosewood, mesquite...

For boxes, although I don't build them, I like butternut or sassafras for the box and walnut, maple or purpleheart for lids.

I have no favorite for pots. For boxes, my first choice is Alaskan yellow cedar for the box and zebrawood for the paddle. Next would be poplar box, walnut paddle or butternut box and walnut paddle

I love great burls for pot calls, then there is osage, cocobolo rosewoods, zebrawood, ebony...you get the idea. On my box calls I love Alaskan Yellow Cedar with Purpleheart or Sassafras with Eastern Red Cedar......also Teak and purpleheart.
