Title: Turkeys gettin excited
Post by: TRKYHTR on February 27, 2011, 04:51:15 PM
Took my camera out this morning before Church. Saw a few, heard alot. Most of the turkeys flew the other side of the creek. Even had some hens fly into the tree I was setting against. There were Jakes everywhere. I counted 17 jakes that was in the group in front of me. Looks like a good hatch. The strutter at the end of the video is on my hit list. He is at least 4 years old and lives 300 yards from my house. He's lived long enough.

Awesome video Joe!  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Watching those jakes strut is pretty cool, you wont see a jake go into strut around our place if a longbeard is within a mile of him.

Btw, didn't it look like a couple strutters were practicing their copulation skills, Ive never seen them act like that unless they were standing on a hen.

Those were Jakes doing the happy dance. Also there were 2 longbeards that came into the field and 5 Jakes ran over to run them off. The 2 longbeards left in a hurry.

Great video Joe!!

I would guess you were using a tripod, and some camera of HD quality? I liked it when the jakes were pestering the older gobbler. What a great morning to see God's creation before church. Kinda helps a fellow get his head moved in the correct perspective of things. It did wonders for me this am.

Thanks for sharing.  Good luck on the last strutter!!  Do you attempt to film any of your hunts, or is it too much to deal with?

God Bless,
David B.
