I started turkey hunting last year and thanks to the mentoring of a friend and experienced turkey hunter here, finally bagged my first gobbler, a Merriams in New Mexico. He was 20 lbs, had a 9" beard, 1 3/16 inch right spur, and 1 1/4 inch left. As excited as I expected to be, that wasn't the half of it ...
