Title: State of birds in New Hampshire?
Post by: Clay on April 30, 2012, 05:11:15 PM
Guys, getting ready to fly to New Hampshire in a couple of days for the season opener there.  My first week in Kentucky showed birds way farther along in the breeding cycle than usual (presumably due to the unseasonably warm weather that came early and never let up).  Just wondering how things are looking in NH?  This will by my first trip hunting in the state and I'm really looking forward to it.  Just hoping the birds are in a cooperative mood?

Had a successful opening morning.  They gobbled good off the roost, but hushed when they hit the ground.  This guy answered my call around 8am and took a truck ride soon after.  Was able to call in a second bird today for my buddy.  All tagged out in NH...

My buddy killed a nice gobbler on opening day. I saw 3 in a field today, but they wouldn't break 60 yards.
I'm in hopes for a better Sat morning with Harrison.
Congrats on a fine NH gobbler! :icon_thumright:

Congrats on your wet NH bird, got mine today and he was equally soaked, but birds were gobbling some. What area of the state were you hunting? We've got a pretty fair population statewide now with less pressure the further north you go.My 10 year old got a 20 pder with 1 1/4" spurs on Saturday, now that was a thrill we'll never forget.
