Opening day wasn"t quite the turkey shoot I had dreamed about for months, but my two buddies and I went 1 for 3. Jake (shakeyjake)kept his killin streak alive for the third spring with a nice two yr old. Killed him at 9:15, after working two birds since fly down. A strutter and a lookout with one hen all morning. Finally after moving on them three times, the hen finally slipped away and left those two old boys as lonesome as a Maytag repair man. Bird went 21# with a 9 7/8" beard and the standard 3/4" two yr old spurs. Good, thick beard though. I struck out at the roost and couldn't raise a gobble all morning. My other buddy heard a few and saw some hens, no gobblers with them. We'll be back after them on thursday. Best luck to everyone.
