Gun: Rem 870 SM 26" bbl with JellyHead .660
Ammo: Hevi 13 3.5" 2.25 oz #7
Last year I shot this exact setup in 78 degree weather and got 308 in the 10" at 40 (see pic)
Yesterday I shot the same setup and got 171 at 40, but at 30 yards I got 403. What would cause the difference. The barrel was clean, but not polished. I wiped it between shots.
What are your thoughts?

scrub the choke with hoppes #9 and a bronze brush then deep clean the gun. I was getting crazy patterns a couple weeks ago and did this and it straitened my patterns out.
get you a ic.665 for that gun :you_rock:
my first shot after cleaning don't pattern well. I don't even use a high dollar shell anymore I fire a cheap load through it first.
That 40 yard shot yesterday was the first shot after cleaning. The 30 yard pattern which I thought was really good was next. Perhaps I should try shooting after I have fired once. THANKS!

X2...not sure why they hate gun oil so much.
PLUS make sure your fore end cap is as tight as possible... That has a lot to do with my 870s performance.

:agreed:
Why? That makes no sense. Last year he got 308 with that load. My best with my Indian Creek is 324.
