How many "old schoolers" on here still shooting a #4 shot load of some kind, lead or HTL? I know when I started turkey hunting about 22 years ago (at 10 yrs. old) it seemed liked everybody shot #4s. I know I do, but it is a 3 oz. load in my ten gauge. :) I just thought it would be neat to find out who still like #4s.
I still use 4's. My gun shoots them better than 6's.
I still use them quite often in my 12ga when I hunt with it
started testing and playing around with them in my 20ga
Gonna start patterning them myself this off season.
I started about 20 yrs ago with winchester #4's and I'm still using them. However I'm going to be playing around with the new stuff this year just to see. #4's never failed me yet.
I shoot Winchester 1.5 oz 4's in my Model 12 and will be trying some out when I get my 10 gauge. I know the numbers won't be as big, but 150+ 4's in the 10 at 40 is bad business!!!
Yup...still shoot a 2.25oz load of Federal Premium #4's out of my 835. It flat out kills Turkeys. I've been using the same combo for 20 years out of that shotgun with no complaints. On paper it never performs as well as my other guns/combo's with HTL loads, but in the field it kills em just as dead!
I struggled to get over 100 with 4's. Even 5's were hard to get numbers with.
I consistently get 90 - 100 in 10"@40 with Win Sup HV 3" 4 shot in Ben SN
