Title: Quick question. ( Upadated )
Post by: Limb Hanger on April 21, 2012, 11:56:29 AM
So my brother had three toms come in together this morning. He killed one of them. My question is, will the other two leave the country or stick around for me to go have a chance at them? Thanks

They will stay. I have shot one bird early in the morning and had the other bird that was traveling with him come back later in the morning. Just give it a try, ya never know.

Okey guys, I blew it. We set up in the dark and wait for a little light. I give out a few hen calls and nothing. We sat here four an hour and no gobbles, so we move. While we are picking up the deeks we here a gobble way off on another ridge, so we take off to get closer. We hiked our butts off ridge after ridge. The tom gobbled about 200 yards off so we set up. He gobbles at us for twenty minutes and then moves on. We take a little hike to see if we can relocate him but no go. Then we decide to go back to the same clearing we had just set up in. By this time its 10am and getting hot. We dont call for like 45 minutes then i let out a hen call and bam, one calls back. So I get really excited and call a little more and same thing happens but closer and two birds. Then I hear rustling in the leaves to my right above my brothers. I turn and look and there was three toms standing 10 feet from my brothers feet. I turn a little to get a clear shot and I wait till they move away from my brothers feet. I settle my bead on the only clear bird and CLICK. At this point my heart just drops to the pit of my stomach. I forgot to put a shell back in my gun after the hike. I tried to get a shell in before they left but it didnt happen. I felt like a dumb ### all the way back to the truck. 2.5 miles is a long ways when you know you screwed up. Well I still have a week and the birds are still talking. Thanks for listening
