After a few days of some hot weather hunting finally got one down. My buddy has never killed at turkey in NC after 3 years of hunting, so he was going to be the shooter. We set up blind in the morning and had 2 gobblers roosted 40 yds away that watched us the whole time, they went the other way. There were two others gobbling way off so we headed that way. After walking about 200 yds through a jungle one of the let off on his own about 100 yds away. We put the decoy out and sat down quick I put my buddy about 15 yds in front of me where the gobbler was. I made a few yelps and he fired back so we sat tight 2 minutes later he gobbled 30 yards behind us. There was some high weeds between us and him so I spun around real quick and he continued the make a full circle. Finally I was able to swith my gun to my left hand and shoot the gobbler off handed. I felt bad about my buddy not getting the shot but the next morning he killed one of two that seen us set up the previous morning. The swamps are hard to hunt down south, you get a gobbler going then find out he is on the other side of a creek or something. Good luck to everyone this season. I will try to post a few picks in a minute. My gobbler had 1.25" spurs and a 5.5" beard do to beard rot I am guessing.
