Title: Score Turkey 5 Me 0
Post by: dcar_roll on April 20, 2012, 02:27:38 PM
Well after 5 days of hard hunting in the first season in the north zone of Illinois I have come up defeated. First time since 2004 I will go birdless. I did take a shot yesterday at a nice longbeard but because of some poor judgement most of my shot went in the ground in front of the bird. ( he was standing in a low spot in the field ) It's all good though! Enjoyed my time in the field and am looking forward to next year. By the way, just discovered this site a short time ago and luv it. Old Gobbler rocks!

Hey Dcar_roll,

It certainly was hard hunting this week in N IL. Other than Tuesday which was beautiful, the wind and rain every other day made for some tough hunting. But like you said, it is always great to get out in the woods/field.  I lucked out this morning and bagged a small tom, but man it sure was looking grim for awhile there. Ma Nature really made me earn it.

Turkeys are whipin me too 4-0, but there is still more season left and I am getting closer everytime out. Hunting public ground and I am in the mix with the birds everytime and am really learning the terrain of the public area I am hunting....eventually it will result in a gobbler being carried out on my shoulder.

I am just thanking God for the opportunity to be out in his creation...every moment out hunting is a great moment, bird taken or not.  :icon_thumright:
