Title: Houndstooth Rocks
Post by: siyakadog on April 20, 2012, 09:29:15 AM
A few weeks ago I got the itch to visit the mouthcall subject again, I have been turkey hunting for almost 20 yrs and have  whole box of mouth calls.  I just cant run them as well as I want so I gave up and havent used them for the last 10 yrs.  I orded from the top 3 callmakers that had been discussed on the forum.
Houndstooth fit me perfect, specially the Diamond X-3.  Last Saturday I called a 23lb, 9.5" beard gobbler to my Daughter, Tuesday this week I called a 25lb 10" beard Tom to me shot him, then instantly 6 other gobblers sounded off and called them down off the ridge, my hunting partner missed. Wednesday 6 Jakes  came within 10yds to the call and Thursday morning I called 7 huge gobblers off the roost closest was 100yds and one guy came over a half mile.  My buddy smacked a great 26 pounder.  One call, 6 days , 3 dead gobblers= priceless.
The hunting in our area has been tough, birds are really henned up- thanks Houndstooth!

Man, I'm glad to hear that. Lyle makes a fabulous mouth call. He will be grinning ear to ear when he sees this. Congrats to you. Add another one to the PILE of gobblers falling to Houndstooth calls.

I put the finishing touches with very soft clucks and purrs on my gobbler with a Houndstooth as well. They are great calls!

I've heard nothing but great things about Houndstooth diaphrams.  I'm going to have to give them a try.

I've heard a lot of good things about them as well. Guess I need to order a few. Diamond X-3, Tom Bomb, & Dixie Combo seem to receive a lot of praise. Which ones have you guys tried?

I have seen six longbeards fall to Lyle's calls so far this year!

You can't go wrong with any of them I have tried.

Thanks for making great calls Lyle and I like those special V cuts you sent me.
