Title: Layed the smackdown this morning!
Post by: MouthCaller on April 19, 2012, 10:43:42 AM
Sorry guys no pics but I will give the story. The other day I posted about the ant going up my shirt, well this morning I went to that spot with some heavy fog and 2 bird singing their hearts out! I set up on them down hill and they were going nuts! They skirted around to my right and one of the gobblers either left or shut-up but one was hammering! He now was behind me roughly 40 yards and behind a little hump. I got positioned around the side of the tree and gave a few clucks and scratched and he went nuts! It was obvious to me that he was hung up so I shut up and he gobbeled his dern head off! He gobbled 6-7 times in a row is was great! I guess he had all he could stand and topped the hump and I fed him some #5 Hevi. He ended up being another 2 year old, with a 9'' beard and 3/4'' spurs just about identical to the one I killed earlier this season. I was amazed how light that dude was (only 15 pounds) but I wasn't either cause he ws WAY up the side of the mountain.
