Title: Gobbling in VA
Post by: forcercon1 on April 16, 2012, 05:51:30 PM
I hope all is well with everyone. For me, the birds were gobbling like crazy on Saturday and then nothing today? I heard 8 birds gobble for almost 45 minutes Saturday morning. This morning I had 3 birds gobble twice? What's up with that? What did other people hear Saturday and today?

Are the birds still gobbling in AL, GA and SC?

I'm hunting southeast va heard between 8-10 birds Saturday. This morning I heard 3. I was on a different farm but in the same area. Saw 4 big birds on 2 different farms and whiffed on a good one at about 10min to 9.

Most of what Ive heard and what others are hearing in my area (washington, wythe, grayson, bland, and smyth counties) theres a little gobbling on the roost then pretty quiet afterwards.  Have heard very very few gunshots

I'm glad I'm in the same boat as others... Even if it's not what we want at this point. If they are henned up great, they will break loose soon and the hunting will improve. I wasn't sure if the weather had anything to do with what was going on. I have seen very few hens alone so I figured / hoped they still might be henned up.

Those fellas got their dates all lined up.  They have quietened down in TN too.
